The Louisville football team has faced some trials and tribulations since the start of the season, but the outcome of this season for Jeff Brohm's team is all in front of them. Louisville is currently standing at 4-1 (0-1) after losing to Virginia last weekend, and has an extremely tough game against Miami on October 17th.
Louisville can turn this season around after a disappointing loss last week, but some looming threats over this football team could take shape in the next couple of weeks. Here's a look at the three biggest threats to this Louisville football team.
No. 3: The Cards must dominate weaker ACC teams
The ACC has gotten off to an iffy start so far in 2025, with the top teams including No. 2 Miami, No. 13 Georgia Tech, No. 19 Virginia, and No. 25 Florida State. Outside of the ranked teams, there are other competitive teams, such as Duke and SMU.
Louisville's ACC opponents left this year are Miami, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Cal, Clemson, and SMU. The only semi-quality teams in the bunch are Miami, Clemson, and SMU, with possibly including Cal, depending on how well they perform. Louisville needed to take advantage of playing Virginia last week, as they will not face most of the top-tier ACC teams this season.
Not playing against better conference teams this year could result in the CFB committee not respecting the Cardinals, even if they start putting together an impressive string of wins. The Cardinals must start dominating their opponents if they want to try to turn this season around. Brohm needs to get this group more prepared for their games, and hopefully, the Virginia loss will spark a turnaround in this team.
