3. Inability to adapt mid-game
As JMU continued to bring pressure to the Cardinal offense, most Cards fans were looking to Jeff Brohm and the coaching staff to see what adjustments would be made to the offense in-game. The problem was that those adjustments never seemed to come as the offense continually looked stagnant and out of rhythm due to the constant blitzing from the JMU defense. Sure, the players could have taken advantage of most mishaps from JMU throughout the game, but the inability to adapt in-game has to have the blame placed right at the doorstep of the coaching staff.
This bye week will be a fantastic opportunity for the coaching staff to review the game footage and to develop a plan for how the Cards can get the offense going when faced with this adversity. Many Cards fans fear that JMU provided the exact footprint needed to stop the high-flying Cardinal offense. It will be up to Jeff Brohm, Brian Brohm, and the rest of the Cardinal coaching staff to give this team a plan to execute if this situation were to arise again. Cards fans have complete faith in this staff. It's now time for them to continue to earn that reputation and make the changes needed to push this team towards its preseason goals.
