3. Quarterback

The Louisville Cardinals once again have hit the portal to find their starting quarterback under Jeff Brohm, with the Cardinals getting a commitment from former Ohio State backup quarterback Lincoln Keinholz. The name may not have been one of the highest-rated in the transfer portal this cycle. However, Keinholz has shown signs of elite ability, but at a price that allowed the Louisville recruiting staff to prioritize other key offensive positions around him.

The problem for the quarterback room now becomes the depth behind Keinholz. Last year’s backups, Deuce Adams, Brady Allen, and Mason Mims, all hit the portal after very little playing time last season. Adams, in particular, had a chance to prove he could take over the reins for next season. However, after a blowout loss at SMU with Adams behind center, Brohm and company looked elsewhere for the answer for next season. With the departure of all of the backup quarterbacks, and with only Briggs Cherry and now new transfer Davin Wydner from West Georgia coming in to be the backups, it appears the recruiting staff could still use one more quality backup for that position.
