3 key positions Louisville football must target in final week of the Transfer Portal

Louisville has been a major player in the postseason transfer portal cycle; however, a few positions will need some additional attention as the final days of the portal opening loom.

1. Cornerback

After a year in which the defense became the team's strength, the Cardinals said goodbye to seniors such as Jabari Mack and Rodney Johnson. Sure, the Cardinals will have some returning production from Tayon Holloway and Antonio Harris, but they will still need to prioritize the position and add additional pieces to ensure Louisville is confident in it entering next season.

Louisville has already gotten started with the addition of former Texas cornerback Santana Wilson, but there are plenty more spots to go for the roster for depth and potentially additional experience. The secondary showed up in major spots for the Cardinals' time and time again, holding opposing wide receivers in check, especially in the first part of the year. The defensive line and linebackers appear to be well on their way to having very strong position groups once again next year. The secondary, in particular the cornerbacks, need a few more pieces before they can feel similarly for that position.
