Louisville has landed the two biggest pickups to this point in the transfer portal, but their work does not stop there.

John Blackwell (Wisconsin)

Calling Blackwell a small forward may be a bit of a stretch, but Pat Kelsey has been known to play a 3-guard lineup as Cardinals fans witnessed last season. With Jackson Shelstead at the point guard position and Adrian Wooley potentially returning to play the “2” guard positon, Blackwell would round out the backcourt nicely.

Blackwell was a major piece to Wisconsin’s success last season, averaging 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He also shot the 3-ball well with a highly respectable 38.9% from behind the arc. Blackwell is rumored to be aggressively targeted by the Louisville staff as another major piece to the Cardinal lineup puzzle.

If Pat Kelsey is able to pull off bringing Blackwell into the mix, expectations for the Louisville Cardinals for the 2026-2027 season will skyrocket.
