3. Pat Kelsey's 'PGU' claim
Kelsey made one final pitch to Kinney before his commitment, and hopefully it stuck with him. The Cardinals are becoming 'PGU' whether fans want to admit it or not. Kelsey went out and acquired three elite guards from the Transfer Portal, as well as the No. 1 point guard from the 2025 class, Mikel Brown Jr.
Louisville is becoming a top spot for elite guards, and in just two years, Kelsey has made that clear. Next season, Kinney would have a chance to play with 5-star Adrian Wooley and 4-star Colben Landrew, or whoever they bring in from the Transfer Portal.
Kelsey's PGU comment might have seemed bold to most, but in reality, if Kinney commits to the Cardinals, Kelsey landed the No. 1 point guard in consecutive recruiting classes and three of the top 15 guards from the 2025 transfer class.
Kinney should recognize that this program is becoming a top destination for guards, and with Brown paving the way for him to succeed and giving him the keys after this season, the 2026 point guard should be all-in on playing for Louisville next year.
