4. Playcalling starting to align with the talent on Louisville’s roster

One of the questions floating around after the Week 2 JMU win is surrounding playcalling decisions and the apparent inability to adjust the playcalling in-game for this team. This looked like it was heard loud and clear by the coaching staff, as the Cardinals were found to be in more spread offensive sets and setting up plays to get their playmakers in open space. This allowed the weapons that Cardinals fans have been excited about all summer to shine and showcase their skill sets. The playcalling is starting to complement the roster Louisville has and the flashy contributors they have.

The diverse playcalling also gave the ability of other playmakers to start to rise and become viable options in this offense. Dacari Collins, senior transfer wide receiver from NC State, had a great day receiving and showed his bigger build could be a force for Miller Moss as his 3rd option to Lacy and senior receiver Chris Bell.

Miller Moss finally started to look more comfortable in the Louisville offense this week as well. Moss went 23 for 31 with 316 passing yards, with unfortunately no touchdowns, in the win against the Falcons. He looked in control of the offense and was making the right reads and getting the ball to open receivers all day. Was the accuracy perfect, no; there were some throws Moss surely would want back. However, this was just the performance that Moss and Card Nation needed to instill some confidence in the QB position as the season continues.
