4. Offense has to capitalize on turnovers
The Louisville secondary and linebacking corps gave the Cardinals a boost on multiple occasions, providing key interceptions that swung momentum completely into Louisville’s favor. However, the Louisville offense was unable to capitalize on these opportunities and gain any additional advantage. The lead could have been extended even further had Louisville capitalized on these turnovers early in the game.
One of the keys to the game was to win the turnover battle if Louisville wanted to have a chance to win this game. The defense went above and beyond in this game, with three turnovers through interceptions for the Cardinals. Louisville’s inability to respond made this game much closer than it needed to be.
Miami, on the flipside, was able to come up big when Isaac Brown had a devastating fumble late in the 4th quarter, which ultimately was a key turning point in the ball game. Louisville was able to evade tragedy by not turning its turnovers into points, but it may not be so lucky next time.
