The Louisville football team's preparations are in full swing this week as the Cardinals travel down to Miami to face the extremely hot No. 2 Miami Hurricanes. The Hurricanes have been one of college football’s most dominant squads to this point in the season, with wins over Notre Dame, Florida, South Florida, and Florida State. They have taken the spot of “team to beat” in the ACC and have emerged as the anticipated ACC title winner at season’s end.
Louisville will look to be a major bump in the road for the Hurricanes on their ACC title game journey. The Friday night showdown between the Cardinals and the Hurricanes has the potential to be a letdown spot for the Hurricanes and head coach Mario Cristobal. Louisville has had recent success in Miami, winning its last contest in 2023 to clinch a place in the ACC title game during head coach Jeff Brohm’s first season at Louisville.
Brohm has also maintained a consistent pattern of having one big win each season since joining the Cardinals. The Cardinals were able to beat a highly ranked Notre Dame squad at home in 2023 on their way to the ACC title game. They went on the road last year to knock off a highly ranked Clemson Tigers squad that would eventually go on to win the ACC Championship later in the season. Louisville fans are hoping Brohm can channel some of that big-game magic and get the Cardinals back on track toward their goal of playing for the ACC championship.
All that said, if Louisville wants any shot at pulling off an upset, these five players must step up their game this Friday night as the Cardinals look to steal a win from the Hurricanes.
