3. D’Angelo Hutchinson, DB
Senior defensive back D’Angelo Hutchinson has emerged as a star and consistent producer for the Louisville secondary, a group that many feared could be a significant void for the defense. Hutchinson has been consistent in his role all season, posting 32 tackles and one interception. Louisville will need more consistency and leadership as it enters a challenging road environment against arguably one of the best offenses in the country.
Louisville has won the turnover battle in three of its four wins this season (Eastern Kentucky being the outlier for this stat among all opponents). If Louisville wants to increase its likelihood of pulling the upset over Miami, winning the turnover battle will be a key statistic to have in its back pocket. The momentum swings as well as the opportunities these turnovers could pass along to the offense would play key roles in Louisville’s ability to win the ballgame. Hutchinson’s leadership and play will go a long way in helping the secondary achieve this goal and limit the Miami offense’s scoring ability.
