The first bye week has come and gone, providing the needed rest for the Louisville Cardinals after a hard-fought 28-14 win at home against the James Madison Dukes in Week 2. It was an excellent time for head coach Jeff Brohm and staff to review game footage, target exposed weaknesses on both offense and defense, and work to address the issues before the meat of the schedule begins.

The Cardinals will come off the bye week facing the Bowling Green Falcons, a team the Cardinals are expected to handle relatively easily. Having the Falcons as the team’s first game after the bye helps to avoid any unneeded letdown potential, as well as provides an opportunity to test out any tweaks put into motion during the bye week preparation.

It will also be an opportunity to restore confidence with the fan base in the team after a somewhat shaky performance against JMU that left many fans with key questions. Brohm and company will look to start addressing these concerns and keep Louisville on the path towards an ACC title game appearance. For this to happen, some key players and position groups will need to elevate their play this week against Bowling Green.
