1. Senior wide receivers can be absolute forces for the offense

One position group that stood out in a big way for the Cardinals was the wide receiving corps, particularly senior leaders Chris Bell and Caullin Lacy. Bell had a career day today, catching 10 passes for 135 receiving yards and one touchdown. He was easily Moss’s favorite and most consistent target on the day and showed why most considered Bell an NFL prospect entering the season. Having sure hands and a reliable target will help alleviate the early-season woes of Miller Moss and continue to allow him to grow in confidence within the Louisville offense.

It seems to be a weekly occurrence, but once again, Cards Nation has to sing the praises of Caullin Lacy’s play. Lacy posted awe-inspiring numbers as well, with eight receptions and 95 receiving yards. Lacy continues to be a force in the offense and a consistent target for big plays and yards after catch opportunities. Jeff Brohm will look to Lacy to continue this level of production and ensure that Moss continues to have the opportunities to improve with his role in the offense. The passing game was far from perfect, but with weapons such as Bell and Lacy out wide, great things are bound to happen.

Louisville football returns home next week against Virginia at 3:30 local time.
