Louisville basketball fans anxiously await the new commitment date from the 5-star prospect out of Manassas, Va., Nate Ament. As many Cardinals fans know by now, Ament is a unanimous top-four recruit in the class of 2025, with all the eyes of college basketball on him right now as they wait for his announcement.
The No. 4 recruit in the nation is the top remaining undecided player in the class of 2025, and after pushing back his commitment from April 1 to an unknown date, Louisville has been patiently waiting. The Cardinals are just one of five teams remaining in his decision, as the other teams joining Pat Kelsey and Louisville in this heated battle are Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, and the Duke Blue Devils.
The Nike Hoop Summit Camp is currently taking place, and Krysten Peek sat down with Ament and asked the 5-star recruit all the important questions, including when the decision will be announced.
Louisville basketball's 5-star target breaks down his future decision
The Cardinals were frontrunners to land Ament back in February, but after he announced he would delay his commitment, Travis Branham reported that Duke and Tennessee are the frontrunners now, with Kentucky as the dark horse.
Louisville, however, still is all-in on this future NBA star, as he is now projected as a top-five pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Cardinals have just one scholarship spot available, making this decision massive for the Louisville basketball program.
In Peek's interview with Ament, she asked the massive questions everyone has been wondering about his commitment, leading off with the key areas that will help you make this decision.

"How much I trust the coaches in what they are telling me," Ament stated. "How much I truly believe that I can come in and be an impact freshman, and then obviously how much I can come in and make mistakes, learn from them in the game, and the coach trusts me to make those adjustments in the game."
Ament went on to be asked if the commitments from each school had been recruiting him, and immediately, he said yes. However, the last question Peek asked is the question all Cardinals fans have been waiting to hear, and that is his new commitment date.
"I know you are deciding soon, but what does soon mean?" Peek asked the 5-star recruit.
"Next week or two." Ament stated in his short and sweet response.
