4. Vangelis Zougris
Louisville's frontcourt got a big-time signing this offseason from a player from overseas. The Cardinals landed a commitment from Evangelos "Vangelis" Zougris, an elite big man from the Greek Basketball League.
Zougris is emerging as one of the fans' favorite players this offseason as his energy is unmatched in nearly every video the team releases on social media. The 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward can play center, as he has a soft touch around the rim, but with his frame and size, he can also be a necessary rim protector.
He has some FIBA experience, having played in the FIBA U20 World Competitions, the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship, and the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket. He averaged 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds at the FIBA U20 EuroBasket competition, while averaging 14.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game at the FIBA U20 European Championship.
His ability to score around the rim, but also secure rebounds, could come up clutch for this Cardinals team, especially when they run some small lineups. Zougris is a player who could shock some fans and become a fan favorite with his passion and energy.
