Louisville basketball has been getting a lot of spotlight this offseason, but the majority of the talk has been about 5-star Mikel Brown Jr. or their massive Transfer Portal additions. The portal has slowed down, and for the most part, Louisville has its roster set for next season.

The Cardinals began their offseason by adding 5-star Adrian Wooley, followed by 4-stars Ryan Conwell and Isaac McKneely. After Louisville added these elite guards, the nation quickly began to notice the roster head coach Pat Kelsey was putting together.

He then took the international route and added 4-star Mouhamed Camara, as well as another international forward who has flown entirely under everyone's radar until now.

Louisville just made it clear how vital Evangelos Zougris will be

The Cardinals fans are counting down the days until November and that first tip-off game. However, before we jump to November, this roster needs to gel, develop chemistry, and determine which lineups work and which don't.

Louisville offseason practices are well underway, and after a hype video was posted of the Cardinals' offseason workout, Evangelos Zougris was shockingly the name that everyone in the comments was talking about.

Kelsey earned the Greek forward commitment back on May 29, and while he might not receive the same hype as Brown, Wooley, or McKneely, fans need to remember him, as he could be a crucial piece off the bench.

McKneely, Wooley, and others starred in the hype video, but what caught the fans' eyes was Zougris' energy. He might not be the flashiest or most dominant player, but it is clear from the two clips he was in that he will be the spark off the bench and provide the energy for Kelsey's Cardinals.

The 6-foot-8, 250-pound forward comes from the GBL, where he averaged 7.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 68.5 percent from the field. However, he made a name for himself when he represented his home country at the FIBA U20 World Competitions.

Zougris first represented Greece at the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship, where he stacked his stat line, averaging 14.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. In 2024, he was picked again to represent Greece, averaging 11.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket.

If Zougris wants to be a rotational staple alongside Aly Khalifa and J'Vonne Hadley, his height and size will play a crucial part. However, after watching this hype video, it is clear his energy will be the biggest addition to Louisville next season, and he will be a massive spark plug off the bench for Kelsey.
