Louisville basketball gets a huge boost from one of its top additions last offseason as the Cardinals just officially announced that Adrian Wooley will return. Entering this offseason, Louisville fans had their eyes on Wooley as rumors started flying around that Arkansas was interested in the former 5-star transfer in late February.

Wooley then sparked transfer buzz by posting “soon…” on his Instagram story, prompting Louisville fans to worry the shooting guard was about to announce he was entering the transfer portal. However, Kelsey worked his magic, avoided a disastrous situation, recruited from within, and kept a huge piece from last season.

The Cardinals' starting lineup is beginning to really look like an ACC Title-contending lineup. Wooley's return will likely mean the former 5-star will be Kelsey’s starting shooting guard, playing in the backcourt with the former 5-star point guard and 4-star transfer Jackson Shelstad.

Wooley committed to Louisville last offseason when he ranked as a 5-star transfer, No. 9 overall, and No. 2 among combo guards. He committed to Louisville over Auburn, Kansas, and Alabama after his dominant true freshman season, where he averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

He was an efficient scorer, making 73 3-pointers while shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc, and scored 619 points while shooting 51.2 percent from the field.

He made an immediate impact with Louisville,, starting in 16 games and averaging 8.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 0.7 steals per game. He shot 45 percent from the field and made 41 3’s on 35 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Cardinals fans are confident the former 5-star will emerge as one of Kelsey’s top scorers next season, as he will be given a bigger role and will be a true starter for the season. Wooley is a crafty guard who can take over a game when he gets hot. He has the ability to hit stepback 3’s or use his craftiness and drive to the rim and finish through contact.

This is a huge update for Louisville. Wooley's return will not only have the Cardinals back in the ACC Title race, but should also make them a real contender for a National Title. This is another great offseason for Kelsey.
