Louisville football escaped a scare in week 2 as the Cardinals overcame an eight-point deficit to the James Madison Dukes. Louisville was down 7-6 after the first half and had to dig deep and find a way to overcome the Dukes' defensive scheme and blitzes.
The Cardinals turned to their two stars, Isaac Brown and Chris Bell, as the two Preseason All-ACC Cardinals popped off and found the end zone each on massive plays that led to Louisville's victory. While the Cardinals fans were a bit underwhelmed by Louisville's week 2 performance, former ESPN analyst and current college football reporter David Pollack shone a light on Louisville's two stars and told the fans this is a much better win than they think.
David Pollack just gave Louisville football the praise they deserve
Louisville is 2-0 to start the season for the third straight season under Jeff Brohm, and the Cardinals fans are thrilled about their offensive weapons. While they might have started slow against JMU, both Bell and Brown are leading the ACC in rushing yards and receiving yards, and Pollack is here sending a message to the ACC to watch out for Louisville.
"The defense looks really good, they came up big tonight and scored for them against JMU," Pollack stated on Louisville in his social media post following the Cardinals' win Friday night. "JMU is a very good football team that will be fighting for a playoff spot, I think, for the Group of 5 members. Isaac Brown is a big-play machine. Like any point can go 78, like you saw tonight. Chris Bell a wide receiver that is big, tall, speedster that can go the distance at any point. Miller Moss continues to come along. This offense continues to come along. Louisville they looking pretty solid to start the season."

This isn't the first time Pollack has hyped the Cardinals, as he labeled Bell a game-changer before the season started. The analyst thinks highly of both Louisville and James Madison, making this 14-point win much better than some may think.
It was a sloppy win for the Cardinals, but it was a win. And they showed they can overcome adversity and come from behind, which is massive when the ACC games start. Louisville found ways to get the ball to its two stars, and they took over the game, ultimately winning it for Louisville.
Pollack shining a light on Louisville's two stars, and their defense is a great sign that this team is trending in the right direction. Entering their first bye week, Louisville must continue to grow as an offense and get healthy. The ACC saw a couple of teams fall in the first two weeks, giving the Cardinals a clear path to returning to Charlotte.
However, for that to happen, Louisville must win the trenches, stay healthy, and continue to give the ball to Bell and Brown. If they can do all those things, this team has a chance to shock the ACC.
