Louisville basketball is in a recruiting battle for 5-star transfer Milan Momcilovic, as the Cardinals are going up against Arizona and Kentucky for the elite power forward. On Wednesday, the 5-star withdrew his name from the NBA Draft and announced he will officially return to college basketball.
Milan Momcilovic Update: Latest news boosts Pat Kelsey's chances of landing 5-star PF
Shortly after it was reported, St. John’s is moving on from the 5-star, making it a battle between Arizona, Louisville, and Kentucky. Now, many analysts are reporting that the Wildcats have a lead over the Cardinals, and Matt Norlander gave Louisville and Kentucky fans a timeline for when he believes Momcilovic will commit.
Louisville basketball fans won’t wait long for Milan Momcilovic’s decision
On a recent podcast on the CBS Sports YouTube Channel, Norlander predicted that Momcilovic will commit to Kentucky, but he also made it clear he believes he will announce his decision so sooner rather than later.
“My understanding is that the decision is going to come in the next one, two, three, or four days at max,” stated Norlander. “We will probably podcast again on Monday. I’m expecting when we podcast on Monday, Momcilovic's commitment and his decision will be in.”
So, with that podcast going live on Thursday, he believes, the 5-star is likely going to commit over the weekend. And so if Louisville wants to make a push for Momcilovic, now is the time, because Norlander is making it appear Kentucky is in the lead, and he is going to commit shortly.
Now, a lot of Louisville fans have recently made it clear they think the 'Cardinals' roster, as it stands, is good enough to be a Final Four contender. But adding a player like Momcilovic would boost Louisville from a Final Four contender to one of the NCAA Title favorites.
Louisville has an elite roster as it stands, and they have a team that can compete with Duke and the other top teams in the country. But if the Cardinals can out-recruit Kentucky and Mark Pope and land Momcilovic, this Cardinals team would be a nightmare for the rest of the ACC and college basketball.
