Louisville football is getting a lot of attention this offseason, with Jeff Brohm trending as one of the top dark horses in the ACC and a potential College Football Playoff team. Louisville had an action-packed offseason, adding over 32 transfers from the Transfer Portal and earning a top-five portal class in the nation, according to On3 Sports.

One of the reasons Louisville’s offseason was ranked so highly and why the Cardinals have high expectations is this stacked running back room. Brohm was able to keep his top two running backs from this past season, Issac Brown and Keyjuan Brown, while also adding a 4-star transfer in Marquise Davis from Missouri.

This running back room is quickly turning heads, and recently, CBS Sports gave the group the praise and recognition it deserves.

CBS Sports recently ranked the top 10 running back rooms in college football entering the 2026-27 season, and by no surprise, Louisville was on this list. The Cardinals have one of the best running backs in the nation in Isaac Brown, and Keyjuan Brown is coming off an eye-popping season after taking over the running back room when Isaac and Duke Watson got hurt.

Now, CBS Sports gave Louisville the flowers they deserve and not only ranked them inside the top 10, but they ranked them inside the top five at No. 4.

"The Cardinals have an electric duo in Isaac Brown and Keyjuan Brown, who have only been slowed by minor injuries. Isaac Brown is a smaller, slashing back who is electric in the open field. He thrives in outside-zone schemes and has an excellent ability to plant his foot and get north.

Brown has the ability to change a game at any moment and averaged 8.8 yards per carry on just 101 attempts. He rushed for more than 700 yards, scored six touchdowns and had 23 explosive runs despite missing three games. Keyjuan Brown is a power back who is a yards-after-contact machine. The duo forms a nice power-and-lightning combination. Marquise Davis is likely the next man up after gaining valuable experience last season."

Louisville’s running back room is only ranked behind No. 1 Miami, No. 2 Texas Tech, and No. 3 Oregon. So, the 'Cardinals' running back room is in elite company, as all three teams above made the College Football Playoffs this past season, with USC rounding out the top five.

Louisville fans know this is where the Cardinals deserve to be, as Isaac is an elite running back, and he has proven that in both college football seasons. His freshman year was historic, as he rushed for 1,173 yards and 7.1 yards per carry. His sophomore season was shortened by injuries, but when the All-ACC running back was on the field, he was nothing but dominant. He ran for 884 yards and 8.8 yards per carry and had a dominant game against Boston College, where he averaged 14.6 yards per carry and rushed for 205 yards.

So, Isaac is the star of this group, but Keyjuan and Davis provide depth and have the potential to be breakout stars this year and in the future. Keyjuan ran for 704 yards and averaged 7.3 yards per carry this past season for Louisville, while Davis was an elite 4-star recruit out of high school after rushing for over  3,800 rushing yards and 58 touchdowns in his final two seasons in high school.

Davis ranked as high as No. 162 overall and No. 11 among running backs in the 2025 recruiting class, and in the Transfer Portal, he was one of the Cardinals' biggest additions, ranking No. 265 overall and No. 15 among running backs.

So, this Cardinals running back room is deep, has speed, and is proven at the college level. The Cardinals' offense is expected to be explosive, and these three are expected to lead the way.
