Louisville basketball takes another massive hit on its 2026 dream wish list as the Cardinals found out Friday that they did not make Latrell Allmond's updated list. The 4-star power forward comes in ranked as high as No. 30 in the 2026 recruiting class and is a consensus top 40 prospect in the 2026 cycle.
Head coach Pat Kelsey has had his eyes on Allmond for quite some time now, as Louisville made its offer to the 4-star back in April 2024. Allmond officially cut his list down to nine schools after earning over 24 offers, and unfortunately, Kelsey and the Cardinals did not make the list.
The 6-foot-8, 225-pound recruiting target, rumored to have wanted to visit Louisville in the summer or near future, but it appears that will no longer happen, as the road ends here for Kelsey. This is a devastating blow to Louisville's 2026 big board, as Allmond was positioned towards the top for the forwards, ranking as the No. 4 power forward and the second-best Virginian in the 2026 cycle, according to On3 Sports.

Latrell Allmond leaves Louisville basketball off his top nine
Joe Tipton of On3 Sports/Rivals was the one to report that Allmonds' updated list now includes the 4-star final nine: Michigan State, Tennessee, Arizona, Maryland, Kansas, Indiana, Virginia, Miami, and Oklahoma State. Louisville's No. 1 target as a forward is, of course, Tyran Stokes, and after that, it appears fans must keep a close eye on 4-star Cole Cloer.

Louisville made Cloer's top eight earlier this month, and now he is set to make an official visit to Louisville on August 30. Other recruits Louisville has earned good updates include 5-star guards Taylen Kinney, Ikenna Alozie, Deron Rippey Jr., and Jaxon Richardson.
Louisville has also been trending as one of Stokes' top spots, but his camp has done a good job at keeping it private. Louisville has learned some heartbreaking news from many forwards in the 2026 cycle, recently making Stokes a must-get for Kelsey.
Stokes being ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the nation and a Louisville native makes it obvious he is Kelsey's No. 1 target, but after Louisville missed out on multiple elite forwards in the 2026 class, it becomes even clearer the Cardinals have to land Stokes if they want their 2026 recruiting class to be one of the best in the nation.
