Donovan Mitchell is having one of the best seasons of his career, as the former Louisville basketball guard is averaging 24 points on 40% from deep, and is in his sixth consecutive All-Star game.

Mitchel plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are currently dominating the Eastern conference with a 43-10 record, and hold the No. 1 seed. Mitchel played for Louisville basketball back in the 2016-2017 season, where Cardinals guard averaged 15.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game.

The Cavs guard is notoriously known for his bounce and the ability to put the opponents defenders on a poster. Well, Timberwolves fell victim to that narrative Monday night, as Mitchell climbed the ladder and demonstrated his explosiveness in the Cavaliers win over the Timberwolves.

Mitchell erupts on social media for insane dunk highlight

Donovan Mitchell called an iso play at the top of the key, and was actually trying to go to his right, but nearly lost the ball but then hit Minnesota Timberwolves guard, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, with an absolute filthy in-and-out move leading to Mitchell soaring through the air for an ultimate highlight reel.

Donovan Mitchell has been NBA players on posters all year long, as the Cardinals alum had maybe one of the dunks of the year last week against the Boston Celtics.

When Mitchell can split the defense, and use his handles to get to the paint like these clips shown, it is all over for the defense. Not many can stop Donovan Mitchell once he leaves the ground.

Mitchell is 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and had a 36-and-a half no-step vertical at the NBA Combine back in 2017. Mitchell likes to explode off two-feet and demonstrate his gifted talent, and when he is able to find the pain off the dribble everyone knows he is trying to put someone on a poster, but there is not many who can stop him.

Mitchell was the NBA Dunk Contest winner back in 2018, and is one of the best explosive guards in the NBA still to this day. His ability to not just climb the ladder, but throw the ball down with authority is why he is so special.

Former Louisville star, Donovan Mitchell, will play in the NBA All-Star game Feb. 16 on NBA TNT.
