Louisville football is off to a slow start against Pitt as they go down 10-0 in just five minutes of football. Pitt marched down the field for 77 yards and finished with a 30-yard field goal. The Cardinals went 3-and-out, with an offensive penalty, and they gave the ball back to the Panthers in excellent field position.
Well, it didn't take the Panthers much time to punch the ball into the end zone, as quarterback Eli Holstein threw a 39-yard touchdown, but to make it worse for Louisville fans, it was to a former Cardinal, Cataurus Hicks.

Former Louisville commit makes Cardinals pay early
Hicks is a redshirt sophomore for the Pitt Panthers, but committed to the Louisville Cardinals and spent his first two seasons with Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals. Well, the receiver clearly had this game circled on his calendar entering the season, as the three-star made an incredible catch and scored the first touchdown of the ACC showdown.
Hicks was a 3-star recruit out of high school and was ranked as high as No. 1475 in the nation and the No. 160 receiver in the 2023 recruiting class. However, after receiving minimal playing time with Louisville, he entered his name in the Transfer Portal and transferred to the Cardinals' ACC rival, the Pittsburgh Panthers.
With Louisville, he played in just 14 games and had a total of 13 catches for 160 yards in two seasons. He showed Brohm potential in 2024, where he logged 12 catches for 149 yards, but decided to enter the portal anyway.
Now, in just three games and some change, he has logged seven catches for 123 receiving yards and two touchdowns, including his impressive start against the Cardinals today.
