Louisville football has a huge Week 1 showdown this weekend where the Cardinals will try to send a message to the SEC and the rest of college football. Louisville is kicking off at 7:30 p.m. local time against No. 9 Ole Miss, and with the Cardinals being 6.5-point underdogs, not many predicting Louisville to win.
Well, ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy recently was on Pat McAfee's show and the college football analyst just let everyone know that this Cards team is “dangerous" and reminded everyone about how good ,a coach Jeff Brohm is.
ESPN analyst just sent a strong message about Louisville ahead of Week 1
Louisville is entering the season ranked for the first time since 2017, and they will have a huge opportunity to not only climb up in the AP Polls, but to emerge as a legitimate College Football Playoff contender. Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals are a huge dark horse team right now for the playoff.
A lot of the attention in the ACC is going to Miami and SMU, but with Louisville ranked No. 24 and the Cardinals facing a huge showdown against Ole Miss in Week 1, McElroy is warning everyone that Brohm is known as a “giant killer,” and Ole Miss better not take this team lightly.
“Dude, I am telling you Louisville is so dangerous, guys,” stated McElroy. “This guy is a giant killer and has been for years. Each of the first three years where he has been at Louisville, he has knocked off an AP top-10 team, including going on the road and beating Miami on a Friday night last year. So, this is a guy who can certainly rally his team around the idea of an upset.”
Brohm has a proven history of beating elite and top-15 teams. At Purdue, Brohm has notable wins over No. 2 Ohio State, No. 2 Iowa, and No. 3 Michigan State, and in his three years at Louisville, he has beaten No. 10 Notre Dame, No. 11 Clemson, and No. 2 Miami.
Brohm has the reputation, he has the roster, and now it is time for the Cardinals to shock the country once again. If Brohm can pull off this huge Week 1 upset, Louisville would go from a CFP preseason dark horse to a major story in college football.
Now, the Cardinals and Brohm have No. 9 Ole Miss on their calendar, and the “giant killer” is looking to add the Rebels to his impressive win list.
