Louisville football has had an impressive start to the 2027 recruiting class, landing 14 recruits so far and ranking as high as No. 14 in the nation for the 2027 cycle. The Cardinals have landed some key commitments in this 2027 cycle, including one of the most recent ones, Munir Lewis.

The Cardinals got the commitment news in late April when the 6-foot-4 edge rusher announced he would commit to Jeff Brohm and the Louisville Cardinals. Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow continue to heavily recruit Ohio and Kentucky, as Lewis is a highly recruited Ohio native.

Well, with Lewis being an Ohio native, Ohio State was one of the many schools that extended an offer, and now it appears Ryan Day and the Buckeyes are making a strong push to try to flip Jeff Brohm’s commitment.

Ohio State reportedly trying to steal away a Louisville football commit

Lewis committed to Louisville on April 23 after receiving over 21 offers, including from Ohio State. Brohm and Morrow have made a clear push in the state of Ohio, landing multiple recruits from there, including Lewis.

However, Rivals’ Mick Water reported that Ohio State’s defensive line coach Miguel Patrick visited Lewis, and the 3-star Cardinals commit reportedly admitted he is listening to what the Buckeyes are saying as they make a push to flip him.

Outside of Ohio State and Louisville, notable teams that extended offers to Lewis included Illinois, Wisconsin, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

The good news is that Louisville is reportedly hosting the 3-star on an official visit on May 29. So, hopefully Brohm can impress Lewis and find a way to shut any flip rumors down. Ohio State won’t be an easy team to out-recruit, especially for a local recruit.

However, Marrow and Brohm have turned heads nationwide so far with this 2027 recruiting class, and a big reason is their Ohio native commitments. Of the Cardinals' 14 commitments, five of them are from Ohio, including two 4-stars, D'Angelo White and Chuck Alexander.

Hopefully, Brohm can find a way to keep Ohio State from stealing Lewis, and that May 29 visit appears to be crucial.
