Entering the offseason, Louisville football fans need Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow to address multiple positions in the Transfer Portal, but the one position the Cards are in dire need of is wide receiver. Louisville lost six of its top seven receivers from the 2025 season, and lost two tight ends on top of that to make it worse.
Now that the portal is open, Brohm has already begun addressing this issue, securing a visit from elite UAB transfer Iverson Hooks today. Louisville is in a recruiting battle with Oregon, Indiana, LSU, and others, as he will visit six other programs as of right now. And now, Louisville fans learned yesterday, they will earn another key visit from another star wide receiver as the Cardinals are in a recruiting battle with Oklahoma State, Missouri, and Michigan for Wyatt Young, per Chris Hummer.

Louisville in early recruiting battle with Missouri, Oklahoma State and Michigan
With Louisville losing six of its top seven receivers from 2025, the Cards fans are thrilled to see Brohm land two visits from elite wide receivers. Young was one of the best receivers in the nation in the 2025 season, and Louisville's visit is massive.
The North Texas transfer earned 70 catches for 1,264 yards and 10 receiving touchdowns, making him one of the top receivers in the portal. He was top 25 in the nation in all three stats, as his 70 catches were 23rd, his yardage ranked 3rd, and his touchdowns placed him 10th nationally. He earned First-Team All-AAC honors.
However, it won’t be easy for the Cardinals to earn his commitment, as North Texas coach Eric Morris is the new head coach at Oklahoma State after the Pokes fired Mike Gundy. With the Cowboys stealing Morris from the Mean Green, they have now earned a visit from star quarterback Drew Mestemaker, and are the favorite to land the No. 4 overall recruit in the portal.
So, with Morris going to the Pokes and possibly Mestemaker, there certainly feels like a high chance Young might follow his quarterback and head coach as well.
Young is ranked as a 4-star transfer, the No. 32 overall player in the portal, and the No. 10 wide receiver. With Louisville contacting quarterbacks like Josh Hoover, Dylan Raiola, and DJ Lagway, it would be crucial to get a receiver like Young to play as WR1 with an elite quarterback.
