Kentucky lands 4-star DL Malchi Brown over Louisville, Tennessee and others
Louisville has made it clear that they prioritize their home state in recruiting, and Brown emerged as one of Marrow’s and Brohm’s targets, but Will Stein and Kentucky were able to land the 4-star over the Cards. Brown is one of the top recruits in the 2027 cycle from the state of Kentucky, as the elite defensive end ranks as high as No. 3 from the Cards' home state.
Brown was recruited by some of the top programs in the nation, receiving over 19 offers. Of those 19 offers, Brown earned offers from National-Title contenders like Alabama, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Indiana. Brown took his visit with Kentucky this weekend, which ultimately led to his commitment, and it is worth noting he has visits lined up with Purdue on June 12 and Tennessee on June 19.
The Cardinals received a spring visit from Brown, as the 4-star attended a spring practice, and Brohm and Marrow took a visit to Brown earlier in 2026. However, the Cardinals fell short to Stein and Kentucky and will now have to move on to their next top Kentucky targets.
Brown ranked as high as No. 174 in the 2027 cycle and No. 21 among defensive linemen. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound defensive lineman attends Corbin High School and is now one of Kentucky’s top commitments in the 2027 recruiting class and their top in-state commitment.
The Cards have landed four of the top nine recruits from Kentucky in the 2027 recruiting class, including Allen Evans. The Louisville native is a unanimous 4-star recruit who ranks as high as No. 69 overall and No. 2 among Kentucky natives.
Other notable in-state commitments for the Cardinals include 4-stars Ja’Hyde Brown and Jordan Haskins, who rank right behind Brown for in-state rankings at No. 5 and No. 6.
