Louisville football held its first fall scrimmage not long ago, and the 'Cardinals' starting quarterback continues to gain confidence and trend in the right direction. Jeff Brohm is entering his fourth year with the Cardinals, and for the fourth straight season, the Cardinals will have a starting quarterback from the Transfer Portal.

Louisville added 4-star transfer from Ohio State, Lincoln Kienholz, and despite the Ohio State transfer not having much collegiate experience, there is a lot for Louisville fans to be excited about. Brohm was asked about Kienholz's production in the first scrimmage, and Louisville fans got some encouraging news from Brohm as the new quarterback continues to get comfortable in Louisville’s offense.

Lincoln Kienholz had a 'good day' in Cardinals scrimmage

This offseason and fall camp are crucial for Kienholz, as he won’t have a few games to settle in with Louisville. The Cardinals have a huge game against Ole Miss in Week 1, then a confidence-boosting game against Villanova in Week 2, and then face SMU in Week 3.

So, the scrimmages and weeks leading up to the Cardinals' season are huge for the new quarterback to build confidence for these two big games, learn the system, and get comfortable with the Cardinals' receivers and offensive line.

“I thought Lincoln had a good day, and it was good because he's had a good camp, and I think he's getting a better grasp,” stated Brohm after the Cardinals' first fall scrimmage. “We're going to have to make sure we have enough in there to challenge the defense and enough in there where he feels comfortable with to execute early on, where he can handle not only executing, but calling the play and mastering what everyone's supposed to do.”

Brohm has made it clear he thinks Kienholz has a lot of potential and is different than the rest of the quarterbacks Louisville has had in his tenure here. Kienholz is an accurate quarterback who can win games with his arm, but he can also scramble and make plays with his legs.

Brohm has said multiple times that he has a lot of faith in Kienholz and believes he is hungry to lead a team. Kienholz was with Ohio State for three seasons but threw the ball only 36 times. Now, it is his time to lead Louisville, and the Cardinals believe he can lead them to their first ACC Title.

The 4-star transfer ranked as high as No. 172 overall and No. 11 among quarterbacks coming out of high school. He is an elite athlete who threw 46 touchdowns and 3,422 yards in his last high school season, finishing his three years with 9,100 yards and 104 touchdowns.
