Jeff Brohm has made it clear since his arrival as the Cardinals' head coach that he wants Louisville football to play elite programs and not avoid lesser opponents. Brohm loves the sport of football and enjoys playing competitive games.

While that might not be the case for every team, Brohm has made it clear that he wants to play against Power Four teams and play competitive football. Many teams prefer to secure easy wins and play lower Division I schools to pad their records before conference games.

Well, in a recent interview, Brohm certainly threw a powerhouse program under the bus and made it seem like they are running from the Cardinals. Louisville fans would love for this game to happen, but it appears Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are running.

Is Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs running from Jeff Brohm and Louisville?

The Louisville Cardinals and the Georgia Bulldogs were scheduled to have a home-and-home series beginning in 2026, but after the SEC added a game to their conference schedule and will play nine conference games, it appears that might be affecting a blockbuster showdown with the Cardinals and Bulldogs.

“I don’t know if I’m supposed to say," Brohm stated on 93.9 The Ville. "We want to play Georgia. We’ve gathered some information where that’s, you know, I don’t want to speak out of tune, but I don’t know if it’s vice versa. I’m hopeful that we can play the game, but I don’t know where that’s at right now. But as far as us, we have Georgia on the schedule the next two years."

This isn't the first SEC giant to avoid the Cardinals, as Tennessee and Ole Miss both declined to play Louisville. The Cardinals attempted to schedule games with both SEC powerhouses, but the Volunteers scheduled a game with Nebraska, and Ole Miss scheduled a game with Wake Forest instead of Louisville.

The Cardinals' head coach certainly makes it feel like Smart and the Bulldogs are running from the Cardinals, as he doesn't sugarcoat anything. He wants to play Georgia, and as of right now, that game is on their schedule. However, it appears that Georgia is deciding whether they want to play Louisville or run from the Cardinals.

Louisville is scheduled to play Texas A&M in a home-and-home series in 2026 and 2027 as well. Brohm has this program playing some of its best football since 2013 and 2014, and now he is getting games against elite SEC programs, or at least trying to.

If the Cardinals and Bulldogs matchups were to fall through, both fan bases would be devastated, but the Cardinals would be outraged, as Louisville is trying to get a massive non-conference win. It is going to be something to keep an eye on as this month progresses, but for now, Brohm certainly just made it feel like Georgia is trying to duck some smoke, as Pat Kelsey says.
