Louisville football and Jeff Brohm just got Lincoln Kienholz his wide receiver. Vanderbilt transfer Tre Richardson has officially committed to Louisville after his visit, making him the 19th commitment this offseason and the third wide receiver.

Louisville had to address the wide receiver position this offseason after the Cards lost six of its top seven wide receivers from the 2025 season, including standout Christ Bell. Antonio Meeks is the only key receiver who will return from last year's roster, but now Meeks is joined by one of the top receivers from the SEC last season.

The Cards beat Texas, Georgia, and Kansas State to secure Richardson’s commitment, as it was reported that all three schools had either earned a visit or had one lined up. Brohm and Vince Marrow strike again, as the elite wide receiver is now the fifth 4-star to commit.

Louisville football beats out Texas and Georgia for elite 4-star WR

The Cardinals continue to dominate this offseason. Richardson was one of the best receivers available in the portal, and Brohm earned his commitment over SEC giants like Georgia and Texas, which proves just how far this program has come. The Vanderbilt transfer started his career playing JUCO football his freshman season earning first-team NJCAA All-American honors after 52 catches for 983 yards and 11 touchdowns.

His next stop was Division II at Washburn University, and then he took the big leap to Clark Lea and Vanderbilt. Last season with the Commodores, he didn’t skip a beat, ranking third on the team with 46 receptions, leading the team with 806 receiving yards, and tying for the team lead with seven receiving touchdowns. He will likely be the Cardinals' WR1 next season as the Vanderbilt transfer is ranked as high as No. 53 in the portal and the 12th-best wide receiver.

With Louisville losing Caullin Lacy, the Cardinals also get an elite kickoff return man, as Richardson was Vanderbilt's No. 1 guy last season. Richardson earned 25 yards per kick return in the 2025 season as he returned 17 kicks for a total of 427 yards. The newest Cardinal will likely play a key role on special teams next season, as Lacy did.

Richardson is the third wide receiver to commit to Louisville this offseason, with all committing in the last 24 hours. The Cards earned wide receiver commitments yesterday afternoon from two Kentucky transfers in Montavin Quisenberry and Hardley Gilmore IV. Louisville will likely continue to recruit the wide receiver position to add depth, but for now, the offense is trending toward being one of the best in the ACC with Lincoln Kienholz at quarterback, Isaac Brown at running back, and Richardson at WR1.
