Louisville football recently took the stage at the ACC football media day. The Cardinals are getting a lot of attention as we approach the middle of July, and a big reason is what Brohm was able to bring in this offseason.

The Cardinals' roster is filled with high-level competitors, especially on offense. Louisville’s biggest star of the group is, of course, the key returner, Isaac Brown. The elite running back returns to Louisville for his third season and is expected to be one of the top running backs in the nation. After Brown, the name that often gets brought up is Brohm’s QB1, Lincoln Kienholz.

The 4-star Ohio State transfer has never started in a college football game, and when Brohm was asked what impressed him the most, Brohm sent a loud message.

Lincoln Kienholz gets high praise from Jeff Brohm

Kienholz is a former 4-star recruit out of high school, and Louisville fans are excited for what is to come this upcoming season. Ohio State fans loved Kienholz when he was a Buckeye, but with 5-star sophomore Julian Sayin taking off this past year, Kienholz was looking for a bigger role.

Brohm was asked what impressed him about Kienholz to take a shot on him, and Brohm made it clear he has all the confidence in his newest starting quarterback.

“Well, we are really excited about Lincoln,” stated Brohm. “When you look for quarterback play, you look for guys, in my opinion, that are hungry first, that are willing to put in the work. When we studied Lincoln, we liked what we saw on video…But I think he knows it is his time now to step up and show what he can do. And that is what he wanted to do. He wanted to go somewhere, get on the field, and showcase what he is all about. I think he brings us some dimensions and skills that we have not had before. I think he is a great athlete. He can run, he can extend plays, he can throw on the run, and he enjoys doing that. He’s got all the skills, he’s got all the traits you are looking for, he’s a great teammate, and I think he is ready for this challenge.”

Coming out of high school, Kienholz was a unanimous 4-star recruit and was ranked as high as No. 172 overall in the 2023 recruiting class and No. 11 among quarterbacks. He never really got a chance to prove himself at Ohio State, as he threw only 36 passes for 250 yards.

Despite not having much experience at the college level, he had an eye-popping high school career. The former 4-star Ohio State commitment threw 86 touchdowns to just 12 interceptions in his final two seasons.

He went head-to-head with Sayin, battling for that QB1 spot at Ohio State. However, Sayin won the job, forcing Kienholz to enter the portal. Now, the time is now, and Louisville fans are hoping Kienholz can be the first QB to deliver an ACC Title to Louisville.
