Louisville football has been in the running with some of the top wide receivers in the portal, but the Cardinals fans clearly wanted DeAndre Moore Jr. The glaring dream target for Louisville was the Texas transfer, and his addition would have addressed the major need at wide receiver early in the portal.
Louisville was in the running for Moore at first as Jeff Brohm and Louisville earned an official visit from the former 4-star recruit after he visited Kentucky and Ohio State. However, the Cards went a different way and landed Vanderbilt transfer Tre Richardson, making it appear Moore was out of the mix.
Well, it's official that Moore will not be a Cardinal, as he has committed to Colorado this afternoon. While it's a bummer he didn’t commit to Louisville, many fans knew this was coming. However, the glorious silver lining is that the former Louisville commit out of high school is a Colorado Buffalo, not a Kentucky Wildcat.

Louisville football fans can smile after Kentucky whiffs on DeAndre Moore Jr.
After Louisville fans learned Moore was visiting the Cardinals, the fans were dreaming of pairing Lincoln Kienholz with the former 4-star commitment. Moore initially committed to Louisville in May 2022, but flipped his commitment to Texas in December. He went on to play his first two seasons with Texas, where he earned a combined 77 catches for 988 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
Louisville fans recently took a poll on social media, and out of 408 votes, 70.1 percent voted Moore as their No. 1 target in the Transfer Portal. So, the dream is shattered. The former Cardinal won’t have a full-circle moment, commit to Louisville, and play for the school he initially committed to.
However, he isn’t playing for Kentucky either. Many Wildcat fans were counting on Moore to commit to Kentucky and were confident he would choose Will Stein and Kentucky. The Cardinals fans are smiling from ear to ear after this announcement, as Louisville fans can't help but laugh.
So, are Louisville fans bummed? Yes. But Moore not committing to Kentucky makes everything just fine because Louisville has the No. 3-ranked class this offseason, and Kentucky just whiffed on one of its top recruits.
The Cards fans knew this was a two-way battle between Kentucky and Colorado, and that's why landing Richardson was so crucial. The Vanderbilt transfer ranks as the No. 14 wide receiver and the No. 62 overall transfer in the portal. The Cards' wide receiver room has added four receivers this offseason and has convinced Kris Hughes and TreyShun Hurry to return.
