Louisville football is one week from its bowl game with Toledo, but the buzz around the program right now is the Transfer Portal. The portal will open in January for 13 days, and Cards fans are hoping Jeff Brohm and company can rebuild this team as they lose some significant pieces. The fans have made it clear that their top priority is the offensive line. After this disaster of a season from the line, the fans want some help in that unit, and then after that, it is once again the quarterback position.

Louisville has gone the portal route for its starting quarterback every year under Brohm, and with year four looming, it feels like he is about to carry the tradition for another year. Last year, the Miller Moss experiment didn’t work, and now fans are hesitant about who to bring in next. The portal has already seen elite quarterbacks enter, but just now it was reported that Louisville is expected to be one of the teams to watch for former 5-star recruit and Nebraska star quarterback Dylan Raiola.

Louisville reportedly could be interested in star QB Dylan Raiola

Raiola was a unanimous 5-star recruit out of high school, ranked No. 7 in the nation and the No. 2 quarterback in the 2024 class. He committed to Nebraska, where he spent two seasons with the Huskers before entering the Transfer Portal and immediatley becoming one of the top players in the portal.

In his two seasons with Nebraska, he threw for 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, and completed 69.1 percent of his passes. Last year, in 2025, the sophomore quarterback completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns, while dropping his interceptions from 11 to six.

It was reported that with Brohm’s extension, he would get more money to spend on NIL, but a player like Raiola would cost a lot. He is ranked No. 2 in the Transfer Portal and the second-best quarterback, behind Cincinnati transfer Brendan Sorsby. If they are able to land Raiola, though, maybe that would  help keep Isaac Brown and another star running back and go get a star wide receiver to replace Chris Bell.

If Louisville can get the star transfer QB, they would have to surround him with talent on the outside while providing him with protection up front. No other teams have been linked to the Nebraska transfer as of now, but Louisville fans should keep a close eye on it as the portal inches closer.
