Louisville basketball’s first offseason addition comes from Pat Kelsey and his coaching staff, as Jeff Goodman and The Field of 68 reported that Louisville will add Campbell head coach John Andrzejek as their new assistant head coach.
Louisville assistant’s sudden exit to Indiana stuns fans after recent title promise
The Cardinals lost two key coaches this offseason, as assistant coach Thomas Carr departed Louisville and Kelsey after two seasons to take a similar assistant coach role with Darian DeVries and the Indiana Hoosiers, and Executive Director of Player Personnel and Strategic Initiatives Brian Kloman left Louisville to be the new General Manager for the Auburn Tigers.

Campbell finished 16-18 and 8-10 in the CAA this past season.
He was previously an assistant at Florida.
John Andrzejek named as Louisville's newest assistant coach
Louisville's newest assistant coach will have big shoes to fill, as Carr and Kelsey posted a dominant 109-30 record together over their four years, including two at Louisville and two at Charleston. Andrzejek was the head coach at Campbell for just one season, during which the Fighting Camels went 16-18.
Andrzejek led Campbell to the CAA Tournament semifinals after winning their first two games of the postseason, but fell short to Monmouth by 10.
Before his time at Campbell, he spent two years on Todd Golden's staff as an assistant at Florida, including the Gators' 2025 National Championship Title run. Florida went on to win its first National Title since 2007 after being a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Golden and Andrzejek helped coach Florida to an impressive 27-4 regular-season record, including a 14-4 SEC mark.
Florida then went on to win the SEC Tournament Title after beating three ranked teams in the conference tourney, and stayed red-hot, winning the National Title, including major wins in the Final Four over 1-seeded Auburn and 1-seeded Houston. Florida ended the season on a 12-game win streak, including the SEC and NCAA Tournament wins.
The year before the Gators' National Title, Florida made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022. Florida ended the season 24-12 after losing to Colorado in the NCAA Tournament. In Andrzejek’s two seasons with Florida, he had a dominant 60-16 record.
Before his time with Florida, Andrzejek spent four seasons as Washington State’s assistant coach, one season as Dartmouth’s assistant coach, and one season as Johns Hopkins assistant coach.
The Cardinals are expected to look completely different next season, as they have already replaced one key coach with Andrzejek and will also try to replace Kloman. But then, Louisville has already seen Sanada Fru and Khani Rooths enter the portal, and Louisville is expected to lose its top nine rotational players from last season.
