Cardinals were up 11 at halftime 38-27, and were nearly lights out from deep, but UofL shot abysmal the second half and lost the half 50-32. The Cardinals were up 49-39 in the second half before they gave up a 21-3 Georgia Tech run in a spam of seven minutes. The Yellow Jackets went up 60-52 and gained all the momentum.

Cardinals were trying to make a push in the final 10 minutes of the game, as it has been vital for Pat Kelsey and his Cardinals, but they shot themselves in the foot and were unable to take advantage of what was being handed to them.

Louisville basketball's alarming red flag

Louisville basketball was trying to make a late game push in the second half, but it is hard to comeback and win when Pat Kelsey's team can't hit free throws.

The team as a whole shot 11-19 from free throws and was only able to capitalize of making a pair three times. Cardinals was an abysmal 9-17 from the stripe in the second half and 2-10 from the three-point line.

Aboubacar Traore was only able to go 50% from the line, as he went 4-8 , and the starters were not any better. Terrence Edwards Jr. led UofL in scoring with 21 points, and going 3-6, 50%, from downtown, but he also was only able to go 3-6 from the charity stripe.

Edwards usually has been reliable from the free-throw line, as he shoots nearly 78% from the line, but in todays performance his 50% performance in the second half was poor. The Cardinals were only able to get to the line twice in the first half, as they relied heavily on their deep ball performance, and made seven threes.

However in the second half, their threes were limited and they shot just 20% from deep, where they shot 2-10. Georgia Tech limited Chucky Hepburn to just four points in the second half and 17 points for the game. Hepburn and Edwards dup was nearly unstoppable in the first half combining for 26 points, but were basically shut down the whole second half.

Cardinals fall to 16-6 on the year and 9-2 in ACC conference play. Louisville basketball suffered their first loss in 49 days and 11 games, since their 93-85 loss to Kentucky back on Dec. 14. UofL next game will be Feb. 5 at Boston College at 5 p.m. local time on ACC Network.
