May is here, and the Transfer Portal chaos is officially slowing down. Louisville basketball was the center of attention for the portal and has remained the center of attention in college basketball after landing the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2027 class, Obinna Ekezie Jr., and now the No. 1 center in the 2026 class after he reclassified.
Louisville's biggest area of need is obvious after Obinna Ekezie Jr.'s commitment
The Cardinals' offseason has been nothing short of dominant. Pat Kelsey has landed six transfers from the portal and is now a unanimous 5-star. When looking at Louisville’s portal class and the work Kelsey has done, the whole nation seems to agree that Louisville is emerging as a Final Four contender.
Kelsey has dominated the Transfer Portal, and Louisville is right back in the mix as a legitimate top-ten team entering the year. However, the Cardinals fans were quick to realize they were absolutely snubbed by Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman when he ranked his biggest Transfer Portal winners.
Louisville basketball fans call out analyst after Transfer Portal ranking snub
Louisville ranks as high as No. 1 in the portal class rankings, as they have landed two players who rank inside the top 20, including 5-star transfer and the No. 1 overall transfer, Flory Bidunga. However, that must not be enough for Goodman, as when he ranked his five biggest winners this offseason from the Transfer Portal, Louisville somehow wasn’t on the list.
“My winners, Florida, Illinois, St. Louis, Texas, and West Virginia,” stated Goodman on his recent podcast.
OFFSEASON/PORTAL WINNERS NOW!!!
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) May 4, 2026
1. FLORIDA
2. ILLINOIS
3. SAINT LOUIS
4. TEXAS
5. WEST VIRGINIA https://t.co/WfurBocXEp
Goodman not including Louisville in his winners category is a head-scratcher to say the least. Louisville has added one 5-star transfer, the top-ranked in the portal, and four 4-star transfers, and many think this is the best portal class in the nation, including 247 Sports.
Texas is understandable to have on this list, and maybe Florida and Illinois have a case as well, but leaving out Louisville and Tennessee has college basketball fans calling out the college basketball analyst.
"Not including Louisville makes it really hard for people to not believe that you just hate the program for some reason," Stated one Louisville basketball fan. "because they’ve clearly had one of, if not the best portal haul to this point."
It is hard to understand how Louisville isn’t considered a Transfer Portal winner when they were unranked in every way-too-early ranking, and now, after Kelsey’s masterclass, they are ranked as high as No. 5. The Cardinals are expected to be a top team in the ACC, and hopefully, Kelsey and Louisville can end their Final Four drought.
