Louisville basketball continues to make a push to be a Final Four-caliber team this upcoming season. Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals have landed six transfers so far, and one 2026 recruit since April 7. Kelsey is having a dominant offseason as Louisville’s portal class ranks No. 1 overall in the nation.
Pat Kelsey and Louisville basketball's biggest Transfer Portal need is obvious
The Cardinals' frontcourt is loaded as Louisville landed the No. 1 transfer in Flory Bidunga and Kelsey landed the 5-star center, Obinna Ekezie Jr. As for the backcourt, Louisville has former 5-star and 4-star transfer Jackson Shelstad and Adrian Wooley, and the two-way 4-star transfer from Dayton, De'Shayne Montgomery.
When looking at the Cardinals' roster, Louisville fans are looking for an elite 3-point shooter and maybe another wing or true power forward. Well, there is a dream player out there that would be the perfect fit, and would immediatley make Louisville a true top 10 team in the nation.
Milan Momcilovic emerges as Louisville basketball fans dream target
Milan Momcilovic is the perfect fit for Louisville. The 5-star transfer hit the portal after his third season with Iowa State. He is one of the best 3-point shooters in the nation, and with the Cardinals needing a legit pure 3-point shooter, he emerges as the dream target for Cardinals fans.
Louisville has already landed a 4-star transfer from Iowa, Alvaro Folgueiras, but the dream scenario of adding Momcilovic would fill Louisville’s biggest area of need. Last season, he was one of the best 3-point shooters in college basketball, as his 136 made 3’s and 48.7 3-point percentage was the best in Division I, and his 3.7 made 3-pointers per game ranked No. 5.
It would give Louisville a lethal 3-point shooter, spacing the floor, while also adding even more depth to the 'Cards' frontcourt. Right now, Louisville has a variety of lineup options, but having Momcilovic at power forward and Bidunga at center would be dominant.
The 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward averaged nearly 17 points at 16.9 points, while also averaging 3.1 rebounds, while shooting 50.6 percent from the field. The 5-star transfer recently took a Zoom call with Kentucky and Mark Pope, so not only would it be a massive splash, but it would be another Cardinals win over Kentucky, which would make it that much better for Cardinals fans.
Right now, the 5-star transfer ranks No. 2 overall and No. 1 among power forwards, as he only ranks behind Louisville’s top commitment, Flory Bidunga. The Cardinals are eyeing a Final Four season, and with the portal chaos winding down, if Kelsey has any magic tricks up his sleeve, this is one the Cardinals fans are truly dreaming about.
