Louisville basketball is coming off a win over the Syracuse Orange yesterday, which snapped the Cardinals' two-game losing streak. After last night’s win, this Cards team now sits in sixth place in the ACC after jumping North Carolina State with a 21-9 overall record and 10-7 in conference play.

The season has been quite disappointing for the Cardinals fans as they entered the 2025-26 season with realistic expectations of cutting down nets, whether that was going to be the ACC Tournament championship game, after the Elite 8, or the National Title. However, the Cards have struggled on the road and against quality teams, leaving fans disappointed and frustrated as March Madness is just 2 weeks away.

With the Cardinals' recent struggles, we asked some fans about the Cardinals' ceiling for the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament, and well, the fans sent a loud message on just how far they think this team can go.

In a recent social media post, Cardinals fans made it clear they don’t have as high expectations for the NCAA Tournament as they did when the season started. Louisville was once ranked as high as No. 6 in the nation and was projected to be a No. 2 seed in the tournament after their win over Kentucky, but since Louisville started 7-0, they are 14-9, including a 0-6 record against current ranked teams, and a 0-8 record against Quad 1A teams.

With Louisville’s struggles against good teams, the Cards fans have lowered their expectations quite a bit. It was once the Final Four; they made it clear it is now the Sweet 16.

However, while many fans were excited about the Sweet 16, many appear not to be that confident, with one fan saying they would be surprised if they made it to the second weekend of March Madness, and some went so far as to say one-and-done in the NCAA Tournament.

Louisville is a team that lives and dies from beyond the arc, which, in the NCAA Tournament, if they can get hot, then they have the roster to make a run and still find a path to the Elite 8 or Final Four, but their common struggles against ranked opponents have fans raising major concerns for the second round and beyond.

The Cardinals return to action Saturday against No. 22 Miami on the road. A win in Miami and the fans might begin to raise their expectations once again, heading into the ACC Tournament, which starts March 10.
