Louisville basketball’s 2025-26 regular season is officially over as the Cardinals will be the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament and will face the winner of SMU vs. Syracuse after Louisville defeated Miami 92-89. Louisville ended the regular season on a two-game win streak and an overall record of 22-9 and a conference record of 11-7.
Louisville's win over Miami just gave the Cardinals the perfect ACC Tournament path
The Cardinals were led by Ryan Conwell, who finished with a team-high 24 points, but it was J’Vonne Hadley and Adrian Wooley who stepped up big in the second half for the Cards. Hadley finished the game with 16 points on 75 percent shooting from the field and 66 percent from downtown, while Wooley finished with 15 points on 56 percent shooting from the floor and a massive stepback 3-pointer that put the Cards up two with 18 seconds remaining.
Louisville’s win over Miami was big for many reasons, but the Cardinals broke a six-year curse, as it marked the program's first win over a ranked team on the road since Jan. 18, 2020, when Louisville traveled to Durham and defeated No. 3 Duke 79-73.
Louisville basketball snaps six-year curse in impressive win over No. 22 Miami
One of the big stories entering this game against Miami was Louisville’s record in Quad 1A games and the Cardinals' history against ranked opponents. The Cards struggled mightily in both categories as Louisville was 0-8 in Quad 1A games and was 0-4 this year against ranked teams, but all that changed yesterday after Pat Kelsey earned a signature win for Louisville.
The Cardinals picked up their first Quad 1A win yesterday and, not only their first on the road over a ranked team this year, but also their first on the road over a ranked team in over six years. Louisville was 0-4 on the road against ranked opponents, with a couple of ugly losses, including a 31-point loss to Duke and a 21-point loss to Tennessee. The Cards lost by an average of 16 points on the road against ranked opponents entering this matchup, and since that Duke win in 2020, Louisville has lost 12 straight road games against ranked opponents by an average of 14.8 points.
Yesterday’s win will hopefully light a spark in this team as the postseason rolls around, as the Cardinals' path back to the ACC Championship will be through the Miami Hurricanes. The Cards will face the winner of SMU or Syracuse, which Louisville beat the Orange by 15 two games ago, and went 1-1 against the Mustangs. And if Louisville wins its first game on Wednesday, March 11, they face the Canes in a rematch of this signature win to end the regular season.
