Louisville basketball held a former 5-star recruit on campus Tuesday for an official visit, and the Cardinals are emerging as the dominant frontrunner to land the Arkansas transfer. Louisville landed two big-time transfers earlier in the week on Sunday when Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals earned commitments from Flory Bidunga and Jackson Shelstad.
Who's coming and who's going: Louisville basketball 2026 Transfer Portal tracker
Both transfers committed to Louisville ranked in the top 16, with Bidunga a 5-star transfer and the No. 1 overall transfer in the portal, and Shelstad a 4-star transfer and the No. 16 overall transfer. While that put Louisville at the top of the Transfer Portal rankings, there was still work to be done for Kelsey. Now, Louisville is trending with Karter Knox, as the Cardinals held the 4-star small forward on an official visit on Tuesday, and On3 Sports just gave Louisville fans the update they were hoping for.
Louisville basketball gets huge Karter Knox update after visit
The Cardinals lost four forwards to the Transfer Portal in Sananda Fru, Khani Rooths, Vangelis Zougris, and Mouhamed Camara. They also lost key starter J’Vonne Hadley as he ran out of eligibility. So, with Louisville in dire need of a small forward, Kelsey has turned his attention to Knox, and On3 Sports just gave Louisville a huge update.
On3 Sports has officially logged a portal prediction in favor of the Louisville Cardinals. They give Louisville a 100-percent chance of earning his commitment, while they have South Carolina and Missouri on it as well, but with “N/A”.

Knox is a former Louisville basketball target out of high school, when he was a 5-star recruit and a McDonald’s All-American. He cut his list down to Louisville, Kentucky, and South Florida, where he committed to the Wildcats over Louisville, but after John Calipari moved to Arkansas, Knox decommitted from Kentucky and followed him to the Razorbacks.
Knox went on to have a productive true freshman season with Arkansas after averaging 8.3 points while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc. The former No. 22 overall recruit in the 2024 recruiting class averaged 3.3 rebounds and scored 15 points or more 15 times and 20 points or more twice, including in the Sweet 16 when he scored 20 points on 75 percent shooting from the field against Texas Tech.
This past season, he played only 22 games after battling injuries. He missed the final 12 games after undergoing surgery on his left meniscus. The sophomore averaged 8.1 points, while shooting 46 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from 3-point range. He also added 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
So, Louisville’s third commitment appears to be coming sooner rather than later as On3 Sports gives the Cards a huge update following the visit and believes Louisville is not only the team to beat for Knox, but will ultimately land the former 5-star with a 100 percent prediction.
