Louisville basketball recently hosted multiple recruits over the weekend for its showdown with the Memphis Tigers. While a lot of eyes were on 4-star point guard and No. 21 recruit in the nation, Reese Alston, it was South Carolina decommit Isaac Ellis who just made his pledge to the Louisville Cardinals.

Pat Kelsey and the Cards just secured their second commitment in the 2027 class, and while Ellis isn't a 4-star or 5-star recruit, he is an elite scorer who is averaging over 30 points per game this season through eight games.

Ellis is an under-the-radar grab for the Cardinals, but is someone who can score at a high level. Through eight games with Overtime Elite, he is averaging 30.4 points, 8.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals while shooting 41.0 percent from the floor and 34.5 percent from beyond the arc. Recently, the Cardinal commit went viral for his dominant performance, scoring 56 points, including eight made 3-pointers, seven assists, and six rebounds.

The 6-foot-1 Louisville commit is the second commit in the 2027 class after he reclassed to the 2027 class from the 2026 class. He originially committed to South Carolina over Oklahoma State and a few other Division I programs, but after his unofficial gameday visit this weekend he has made his pledge to Kelsey and the Cardinals.

Ellis will join Louisville native Ferlandas Wright in the 2027 class. The Louisville native is a 3-star commit who currently plays for the La Lumiere School. Last season Wright averaged 18.0 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game last year at Fairdale.
