WOW!! Louisville basketball and Pat Kelsey land a huge commitment early Wednesday morning, as the Cardinals continue to emerge as a National Title contender. Recently, college sports changed drastically when a judge granted eligibility and a fifth year for seniors from the Class of 2022.
The Cardinals had just 12 players on their roster, which meant Kelsey could go and land another star if he truly wanted to, and that is exactly what he did. Louisville earned its seventh transfer commitment this offseason, as Pete Thamel reported that North Carolina star Seth Trimble committed to the Cardinals.

Former UNC star Seth Trimble commits to Louisville
The Cardinals fans saw all Tuesday the rumors swirling that Louisville might be in the running for Trimble, and every Cardinals fan woke up to the massive alert from Thamel. Louisville had the ninth-highest odds already after Kelsey secured the No. 1 Transfer Portal class in the nation, and now the Cardinals are expected to be a true Final Four contender with a proven star.
Trimble played all four seasons with the Cardinals' ACC rival, UNC. He recently played in the NBA Summer League this offseason with the Washington Wizards, but because of the “five-for-five” rule the Cardinals just got another elite guard for this backcourt.
The elite guard is a former 4-star recruit out of high school who ranked as high as No. 30 overall and No. 6 among point guards. Now, he is coming off his best year with the Tar Heels, during which he was an All-ACC honorable mention after averaging 14.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 47 percent from the field.
The 6-foot-3, 200 -pound guard scored 15 points or more in 11 games and 20 points or more in four games this past season, including a career-high 30-point performance against the Louisville Cardinals. Trimble scored 30 points while shooting 11-of-16 from the field and 1-of-3 from beyond the arc. He also added four rebounds, four assists, and one steal in the Tar Heels' 77-74 victory over Louisville.
Now Trimble joins Louisville and is expected to be a valuable piece to the Cardinals' new-looking squad. Kelsey continues to impress with the Transfer Portal, and now the Cardinals fans hope he can snap their Final Four drought and lead Louisville to cut some nets down.
