Louisville basketball finds its diamond in the rough as the Cardinals continue to fill out their 2025-26 roster. The Cardinals officially have added Mouhamed Camara from the NBA Academy Africa, according to Travis Branham. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound power forward committed to the Cardinals Monday afternoon.
Camara is a native of Dakar, Senegal, and has been in the NBA Academy Africa since 2023. He will now join Louisville's elite roster and be part of Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals' top-ranked offseason additions. Camara will be the third commitment in the class of 2025, joining 5-star Mikel Brown Jr. and 4-star Sananda Fru.
Louisville basketball lands under-the-radar star in major roster boost for 2025
The newest Cardinal chose Kelsey and the Cardinals over UCF, as the Knights were the only team in contact with this under-the-radar star. Camara will now be set to enroll next month at Louisville and be a crucial piece off the bench for Kelsey's Cardinals.
The power forward has played two years with the NBA Academy Africa team, and in his most recent season, he saw drastic improvement. Camara was one of the top players on the team, and he stacked the stat sheet with impressive numbers. The star forward averaged 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game.
He is also a perfect fit for this Kelsey-style offense as he can shoot it at a high rate from the floor. Last season, he shot above 60 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Camara is the sixth addition for next season, as Louisville added three players from the transfer portal and three from the class of 2025. The Cardinals' offseason is ranked as high as No. 3 by 247Sports and No. 16 by On3 Sports.
