Louisville basketball recently learned that 4-star power forward DeSean Goode committed to an ACC rival. The Robert Morris transfer was one of Louisville’s top targets for the power forward position, but after a recent visit to Miami, Goode is officially a Hurricane.

So, with Goode officially off the Cardinals' target list, Louisville must pivot. However, that won’t be that hard. And in fact, Goode's commitment to Miami makes it feel like Louisville could be hearing some good news from one of its top targets sooner rather than later.
Louisville basketball's No. 1 PF target is crystal clear
Louisville is in the mix with multiple transfers, but the one closest to a commitment is Iowa transfer Alvaro Folgueiras. With Goode going to Miami, Cardinals fans are just waiting for the news that the power forward is coming to Louisville.
The Cardinals have been the heavy favorites for the 4-star transfer for nearly a week now, as On3 Sports has Louisville with a 100 percent chance of earning Folgueiras commitment. Louisville’s roster is beginning to fill out quickly, as they have already earned three transfer commitments, and the one all fans are patiently waiting for is now Folgueiras.
Folgueiras is a 6-foot-10, 230-pound forward who is perfect for what Kelsey needs in his frontcourt. With Louisville landing Flory Bidunga, the Cardinals would love a stretch-four who can space out the floor for Bidunga, and Folgueiras is exactly that.
He made 36 3-pointers this past season, and has made 101 3’s total in his first three seasons. His best season was his sophomore year, when he made 45 3s while shooting 41%.3 percent from beyond the arc. He went on to win the Horizon League Player of the Year and made the All-Horizon League First-team that sophomore season after averaging 14.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.
Now, after his junior season, he is back in the portal after one year with Iowa. He was a key piece off the bench, averaging 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 50 percent from the field. He had a great showing in the NCAA Tournament for the Hawkeyes, scoring 14 points in game one and game two of the NCAA Tournament, including the game-winning 3-pointer to beat Florida in the second round.
So, while Goode would have been a big addition for Kelsey’s frontcourt, Louisville appears to be trending with an elite power forward already, and now the fans are just hoping Kelsey can make it official sooner rather than later.
