Louisville basketball learned yesterday that one of its targets, Trevor Manhertz, committed to the Indiana Hoosiers over the Cardinals. Manhertz was a consensus 4-star recruit who ranked in the top 100 of the 2027 recruiting class before reclassifying to the 2026 class.

Louisville extended an offer to Manhertz not long ago, in December 2025, and shortly after, Louisville received an official visit and made his final three, ultimately committing to Indiana over Louisville and Duke. Now, the Cardinals will move forward with other 2027 targets in hopes of earning their third commitment in the recruiting class, as they have already earned 4-star Ferlandes Wright and 3-star Isaac Ellis commitments.

When the Cardinals fans try to find who Louisville’s newest No. 1 target is in the 2027 class, they won’t have to look too hard, as Louisville is set to roll out the red carpet this weekend for the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2027 class, CJ Rosser.

Louisville is making an early recruiting push in this 2027 class, trying to get an early start on many of these top recruits. Rosser has already earned over 17 offers, including from top programs such as North Carolina, Michigan, Kentucky, North Carolina State, Arkansas, and Louisville.

Earlier this month, Joe Tipton of On3 Sports reported that Rosser will visit Louisville this weekend for an unofficial visit during the Cardinals' game against SMU at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday, Jan. 31. Louisville is one of the few teams to earn a visit, as North Carolina and Wake Forest have already earned unofficial visits, and Kentucky is reported to earn an unofficial visit on February 4 against Oklahoma.

The 6-foot-9, 195-pound power forward has also generated significant interest from John Calipari and Arkansas, and Jon Scheyer and Duke. Rosser is a unanimous 5-star recruit in the 2027 recruiting class and is a unanimous top-2 recruit. He ranks as high as the No. 1 overall recruit in the nation and the No. 1 power forward in the 2027 recruiting class by On3 Sports and 247Sports.

The elite power forward is having a dominant junior season, as he has stacked his stat sheet, averaging 16.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals through 34 games. It won’t be an easy recruiting battle for the Cardinals as North Carolina is the early favorite according to On3 Sports, but Kelsey earning an early unofficial visit is a good start.
