Louisville basketball is having one of their best seasons in program history, as the Cardinals continue to break records, and they find themselves breaking multiple in last nights dominant win.
Firstly, the Cardinals secured a program record of 17 conference wins, which breaks their 18-year curse. Chuckybreaking Hepburn moved up to No. 7 for Louisville basketball all-time assists leader in a single season.
The Cardinals defeated Cal 85-68 to improve to 24-6. They have won eight straight and 18 of their last 19 after starting this season 6-5. This was a dominant game on the offensive side by Terrence Edwards Jr., finishing with a career-high 35 points and seven 3-pointers.
Louisville basketball's Terrence Edwards Jr. makes history in 17-point win over Cal
Edwards got off to an extremely hot start as he scored the Cardinals' first 11 of 12 points, including three-of-four from downtown. While the rest of the Cardinals were shooting just 18% from the floor at this time, Edwards was firing on all cylinders and couldn't miss.
Edwards ended up finishing with 35 points, four rebounds. He shot 11-19 from the floor and 7-11 from downtown. Edwards' 35 points marks a career high, marking his tenth game with 20 points or more since transferring to Louisville and the 26th of his collegiate career.
Well, this 35-point performance not only was beautiful to watch, but it also broke multiple records. Cardinals have had four players secure a game this season with 30 points or more in a different game, which is the first time in program history.

Chucky Hepburn, Reyne Smith, J'Vonne Hadley, and now Terrence Edwards Jr. have all scored 30 points or more in a game this season, which breaks the Cardinals' record books. Hepburn secured 37 points in the last game against Pitt, and with Edwards scoring 35 in this game, that is the first time since 1956 when Phil Rollins and Charlie Tyra scored 35 points or more in consecutive games.
These four guards for Louisville continue to show why they are so dominant together, and why they are such a perfect fit for one another. Hepburn and Edwards have picked up their games recently, and while Smith has shot the ball poorly recently, it is only a matter of time until he finds his shot.
The Cardinals are back at it Saturday in their final regular season game against Stanford. They look to be a top-two seed in the ACC Tournament and will resume play in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.
