Louisville basketball continues to trend in the right direction for one of its top targets in the 2027 recruiting class. Louisville recently hosted an official visit from 4-star prospect Trevor Manhertz from North Carolina, and yesterday, during the Cardinals' showdown with Duke, they learned they are in a three-team battle with Duke and Indiana, according to Dushawn London.

Indiana was the first of the three to land a visit from the elite 4-star small forward, and it was followed up by Duke’s visit later on Dec. 31. Louisville was then the final team to earn a visit as they hosted Manhertz over the weekend on January 4. It appears that the visit went well, as Louisville fans now learn the Cardinals are one of the top schools as he “narrowed his focus to three schools as he enters decision-making mode.”

Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class has already earned two commitments, but if the Cards can add Manhertz, it would be the biggest commitment in the 2026 and 2027 recruiting classes. Manhertz is ranked as a consensus 4-star recruit and is a unanimous top 100 prospect in the nation. 247Sports ranks him the highest, as he is No. 63 in the nation and the 16th-ranked small Forward.

The Louisville target currently attends Christ School in Cary, N.C, and averaged 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game last season, while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from downtown. Louisville made its offer to the 4-star prospect back on Dec. 19, and in just a few weeks, it has made his top three.

On3 Sports gives the Cardinals the best chance of earning his commitment with a 37.0 percent. Indiana is right behind at 32.4 percent, with Duke at 26.9. Manhertz was originally a 2026 recruit but decided to reclass to the 2027 class, and now it is being reported that he might reclass again and move back to the 2026 class. So, with Louisville’s only commitment in the 2026 recruiting class being London Johnson, the Cardinals are on the verge of possibly landing another 2026 commitment.

There is no decision timeline at this time, but the 4-star has indicated he wants to make his decision sooner rather than later. Louisville has secured two 3-star commitments in the 2027 recruiting class: Ferlandes Wright (No. 148 nationally) and Ellis (No. 192).
