The wait is almost over, Louisville basketball fans! Cardinals fans have been waiting all offseason for this week, when the Cardinals will play some basketball!

Louisville's projected starting five after Seth Trimble's eligibility update

Louisville will take on the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence for a thrilling preseason matchup. The two met last year in an exhibition game, where Kansas got the best of UofL, defeating the Cardinals 90-82. However, one major change from last preseason to this year is, of course, the Cardinals' addition of Kansas transfer Flory Bidunga.

Kelsey and the Cardinals made some major moves this offseason, but none bigger than adding the No. 1 transfer. Now, UofL fans will finally get to watch the Cardinals in action for the first time, against a notable program like Kansas. So, with the game just a couple of days away, let's break down how fans can watch and more.

Louisville injury update

The Cardinals should be healthy for this preseason matchup, as Karter Knox was fully cleared for basketball activities in early October. It's still unknown whether the 4-star Arkansas transfer will play Wednesday, but the good news is he is trending toward playing for Louisville in their first regular-season game against Chattanooga on November 2. Also, on Louisville's injury report will be Obinna Ekezie Jr. The 5-star freshman had surgery this offseason, but Kelsey stated in September that he is ahead of schedule.

"I'm fired up about Obi. He and Karter are coming off offseason injuries. They both had surgeries," stated Kelsey on the podcast. "They've progressed, rehabbed, developed. They're ahead of schedule and have done an unbelievable job of that."

As for Seth Trimble and LJ Wells, the two Cardinals' fifth-years were just recently deemed eligible on Friday by Judge Brian Edwards of the Jefferson County Circuit Court. These two newcomers are eligible immediately and can suit up for the Cardinals on Wednesday night in Lawrence. Other than these four Cardinals, Louisville should be healthy and ready to go against Kansas.

Louisville vs Kansas history

These two historic programs have met only 11 times, with Kansas winning six and the Cardinals five. The last time they met in the regular season or postseason was over 30 years ago, when the Jayhawks beat Louisville 98-77. Louisville's last win came the year prior, when the Cards defeated Kansas 85-78 on the road.

Now, they will meet again in the preseason for the second straight year in what will be a thrilling exhibition matchup. Bidunga will return to Allen Fieldhouse, while 5-star freshman and Louisville native Tyran Stokes and 5-star Kentucky native Taylen Kinney will debut against their hometown school, the Louisville Cardinals.

There are plenty of stories and headlines for this matchup, and UofL fans can’t wait to watch some Louisville basketball.
