Louisville football is off to a dominant start for the 2027 recruiting class as the Cardinals have already landed seven commitments and rank as high as No. 5 in 247 Sports' 2027 Recruit Football Team Rankings. The Cardinals' 2027 recruiting class is turning heads early and is getting a lot of attention, and Vince Marrow made it clear they are “Not done yet.”

The Cardinals have shown early that they prioritize three states, Kentucky, Florida, and Ohio, and it was recently reported that Louisville is in a recruiting battle for 3-star edge rusher Munir Lewis. The Cardinals are one of seven schools to earn a spring visit from Lewis, putting them in a recruiting battle with Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Penn State, and others.

Lewis is set to go on a huge visit tour this spring as the Ohio native will start with Ohio State on March 10, followed by Louisville on March 27-28, then Michigan State on April 3-4, Purdue on April 10, Penn State on April 11, Cincinnati on April 16, and Virginia Tech on April 18.

Louisville will look to try and gain some ground on the Spartans, as Pat Fitzgerald and Michigan State are the early favorites for Lewis. The Spartans are the only team with “warm” next to their name on 247Sports, and On3 Sports gives Michigan State the highest chance of earning Lewis' commitment at 48.6 percent, while the next-closest team has a 3.9 percent chance.

The 3-star edge rusher ranks as high as No. 520 in the 2027 recruiting class, No. 44 among edge rushers, and No. 20 from Ohio. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound edge rusher has a total of 19 offers, including from Wake Forest, Illinois, and Boston College.

Lewis had a dominant junior season at Brush High School in 2025, recording 55 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 9.0 sacks, 4 pass deflections, and 1 forced fumble. The Cardinals have already landed three Ohio natives' commitments, with Chuck Alexander and D'Angelo White both being 4-star recruits and top 12 Ohio prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.
