Louisville basketball will learn if they earned their first commitment of the 2026 class in just a few hours, as 4-star recruit Colben Landrew will announce his decision this afternoon on the CBS Sports Basketball channel at 2:30 p.m. local time. Landrew is an elite prospect that the Cardinals have prioritized since August, and continue to grow a relationship with.
Now, they will find out if all their hard work paid off and earned their first commitment of the 2026 class. Louisville has emerged as one of the top favorites to land Landrew after their recent visit back in August. However, the Cardinals are no lock by any means as Purdue, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, and UConn are all in the mix.
However, many are making it feel like it is a two-way battle, and the biggest threat to Louisville landing Landrew is Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies.

Louisville's biggest threat to landing Colben Landrew
The Cardinals are one of many teams that jumped on Landrew after his enormous offseason. The 4-star recruit was ranked No. 69 in the nation entering the summer, but skyrocketed up to No. 17 in the country and the No. 3 shooting guard. Louisville quickly became one of his top choices as he cut his list to six schools before his decision.
Before he announces his decision, though, many are speculating this to be a battle between UConn and Louisville, with the others not far behind. The Huskies earned a visit on Oct. 4, making it the most recent visit, and this has led many to believe they have a slight edge over Louisville.

Hurley and his Huskies being the frontrunners is no sign of them being a lock, but as the Cardinals fans count down to 2:30, they will begin to see it as a two-team race between them and UConn.
With it coming down to the last moment, Louisville fans are eager to see where Landrew commits, and they know how crucial it is to land this 4-star. The Cardinals are in dire need of a 2026 commitment with Stokes' decision looming. A commitment from Landrew and the Cardinals can try to convince the Louisville native to come home.
However, it will be close, as they will have to jump Hurley and UConn while also beating out SEC giants. The Cardinals fans will tune in to the CBS Sports Basketball channel this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. local time to find out where Landrew will commit to.
