Thursday afternoon, college football fans learned the College Football Playoff is nearing a deal to expand to 24 teams for the 2027 season. While many people dislike this result, Louisville and Jeff Brohm should be all in on it. Expanding the playoffs from 12 teams to 24 would elevate Louisville from an ACC contender to a consistent playoff contender.

The Cardinals have consistently competed in their conference since Brohm arrived, but the head coach has struggled to put together a full season, as they have lost multiple games they shouldn’t have. Now, this expansion gives Brohm more room for error while still giving them a chance to make the playoffs.

Latest Ja'Hyde Brown recruiting update

Over the past few weeks, Louisville fans have been a bit worried about their 4-star commitment, Ja’Hyde Brown. The Louisville native emerged on everyone’s radar when he took an official visit to Florida, then followed up by scheduling three visits with Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Well, the Cardinals got great news earlier this week that Brown canceled his visit to Kentucky and didn't visit Will Stein and the Wildcats this past weekend. Then, it was also reported recently that he canceled his visits to Oklahoma and Texas. The 4-star wide receiver is emerging as one of the nation's top prospects and would be a historic signing for Jeff Brohm.

Mikel Brown Jr. shows off his potential in preseason debut with Nets

Mikel Brown Jr. missed the first three preseason games for the Brooklyn Nets but finally made his debut on Wednesday. The Nets faced the Miami Heat and Brown’s former Cardinal teammate, Ryan Conwell, and the two former Cards shined.

Brown showed flashes of his potential, and it's clear why he was the No. 6 overall pick. He finished with 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line, plus three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in just 18 minutes. The former Louisville 5-star averaged over 18 points per game last year, and while some Nets fans are worried about Brown’s health, he showed off his quickness, limitless range, and that he is ready to go and healthy for the Nets first regular-season game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
